Pussycat Dolls Media // Discography // Sway
"Sway" was released on the soundtrack to the movie Shall We Dance an American movie which was released to Cinemas in 2004. The move starred Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez and is based around a 1997 Japanese movie Shall We Dansu?
Promotional singles and DVD singles were sent out to help promote the movie Shall We Dance, and the video was sent to VH1, but received little play. The single was released to radios throughout the U.S. to promote the film, staring Jennifer Lopez, Richard Gere and Susan Sarandon. However the single was never picked up by radio, keeping the Dolls practically unknown to a mainstream audience.
A music video of "Sway" was created with a small amount of clips from the movie. It featured the girls dancing in a studio, warehouse and eventually on a stage with the Pussycat Dolls in bright big letters. The video contains all six Pussycat Dolls from the pop act along with several members of the original burlesque group. The video gained more popularity a year later, as the Pussycat Dolls success grew. The video was aired on UK Music Channels just before the 'Stickwitu' video was premiered. The video was accompanied by performances on UK TV on 'Strictly Come Dancing' and 'Children In Need' in 2005.
Sway was released as a single in a selected few European Markets in September 2006.
