Nicole Scherzinger // Her Name Is Nicole

Her Name Is Nicole is the upcoming debut solo album by Nicole Scherzinger, lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls. After being delayed several times, the album is set for a 2008 release.

 

Initially slated for a 2007 release, the release date has been changed several times. It was originally scheduled a 16 October 2007 release. It was rescheduled release on 6 November 2007. Then the release date was rescheduled to 20 November 2007 due to the potential release of Jay-Z's and Chris Brown's albums. It was recently pushed back to 2008 presumably due to poor overall performance of all her singles.

 

The album's first single, "Whatever U Like", was released on July 24, 2007 in Canada and the United States. The second single, "Baby Love", which was produced by and features will.i.am, was officially released on September 10, 2007.

 

Both Interscope's and Scherzinger's official websites started referring to "Baby Love" as her first single, leading to media speculation that this was prompted by the poor performance of "Whatever U Like".

 

Soon after, "Supervillian" was released as a single download on the iTunes Music Store as "Baby Love" underperformed in North America and gain limited support in Europe. PCD strong-markets such as the UK failed to take the single and it charted outside the Top 10.

 

On November 16, 2007, Scherzinger's official website HerNameIsNicole.com uploaded four songs including "Supervillain", "Happily Never After", "Who's Gonna Love You" and "Powers out" to allow her fans to vote for the next single from Her Name Is Nicole. However on November 28 the poll was updated and the songs "Powers Out" and "Supervillian" were removed and replaced with "Puakenikeni" and "Physical". On December 6, 2007 the poll was completely removed leading to speculation that "Puakenikeni" won due to the fact that it had the most votes. This was later confirmed on December 10 via the website, and "Puakenikeni" will be the next official single to be taken from the album.
