Nicole Scherzinger // Baby Love
"Baby Love" is a pop/R&B song written by American singer Nicole Scherzinger, Kara DioGuardi and K. Harris for Scherzinger's debut solo album, Her Name Is Nicole (2008). It as produced by will.i.am who also provided guest vocals.
It
was released as the album's lead single in Asia, Australia, Europe and Latin America. However, the song served as the album's second single in North America where it was released to iTunes on September 10, 2007.
The song was re-recorded (rumours citing poor vocals by Nicole and/or a poor recording quality) and was eventually added to the KIIS-FM Los Angeles playlist. Dispite this the US radio didn't take to the single, Baby Love only manged to peak outside the Top40 on the US pop radio charts and subsequently went the same way as the previously single 'Whatever U Like'
Despite poor domestic sales, the single is doing reasonably well outside of the United States. The song gained success in the Asian market and made the Top 10 in Germany. Traditional PCD sales hotspot the UK didn't take the single on as it failed to reach the Top 10, although part of this blame has to be with Interscope who released the song to UK iTunes far too soon.
The song was used for German Vybemobile's TV commercial and Samsung's campaign.
"Baby Love" was not a commercial success in the United States, reaching a low number one-hundred and eight on the Billboard Hot 100. Despite this, the single achieved reasonable success outside of the United States, particularly in Europe. This is likely due to Scherzinger's performance in MTV Europe Music Awards 2007, in which Scherzinger sang the song with will.i.am, the producer and featuring artist of the song.
Although the song wasn't successful on the Billboard Hot 100, it reached number four on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play.
