It was announced in March 2008 that Carmit left the Pussycat Dolls to persue another career. She posted on the official Pussycat Dolls website:

I wanted to be the first to tell you that I am no longer in the Pussycat Dolls but we will always be sisters forever! Thanks to all the dedicated fans for your unconditional love and support! Exciting news is coming and I promise to keep you all posted!

Rumours quickly spread that she left to to disagreements with the direction the group might be taking and with "Lead" singer Nicole, neither of these have been confirmed by the group.

Carmit Bachar (born 4th September 1974) is from Los Angeles, California.

 

Carmit is of Israeli and Dutch/Indonesian descent and comes from a long line of family entertainers. Her mother was a dance teacher and her father danced and even once worked with the reknown Marcel Marceau.

 

She competed internationally as a rhythmic gymnast for 10 years, and placed 5th in the Olympic trials in 1992, she even went on to compete in the World Championships. During her career competing on the National Team, she attended Hamilton Academy of Music in Los Angeles, studying music, dance, and also the piano and viola.

 

Carmit is the longest surviving membesr of The Pussycat Dolls. She joined the group in 1995, just two years after they were formed. All the other 'dolls' joined a few years after her.

 

As a freelance dancer she has toured or appeared live with several rock/pop acts. In 1999, she was the "Livin' La Vida Loca" woman in Ricky Martin's world tour. In 2000 No Doubt's world tour, and appears on stage with Gwen Stefani during "Bathwater" in No Doubt's DVD Rock Steady Live.

In 2004 she was a back-up dancer for Janet Jackson during the infamous peek-a-boo Super Bowl half-time show. In 2003/2004 she was a dancer for Beyoncé's tours and appears in the 2004 DVD Beyoncé Live at Wembley. She also appears in Beyoncé's music videos "Crazy in Love" and "Baby Boy". Carmit Bachar also appears (along with fellow member of The Pussycat Dolls, Kimberly Wyatt) in the video "Shut Up" by Black Eyed Peas.

 

Also during time out of her busy schedule she has appeared in several films. '13 Going on 30', 'Along Came Polly', 'The Scorpion King' and also in 2003's "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" with The Pussycat Dolls.

Carmit is an ambassador of "Operation Smile", a worldwide children’s medical charity that helps improve the health and lives of children and young adults born with facial deformities.

 

In November 2007 sheparticipated in an Operation Smile international medical mission in Bolivia, where she and her team organized creative stations for the kids like face and body painting, bookmaking, music and dance.
